LEM PHONICS TRAINER WORRIES ABOUT PHONICS USE AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Kerea Primary School Grade 3 teacher Mrs. Rosemary Sailen Osese is concerned about the lack of Phonics teaching carried out at it's feeder elementary schools.
This year 2023, upon enrollment, the teacher recorded a massive enrollment of 88 students - all new intakes graduating from the only elementary school, Kerea Elementary School.
While teaching in the first 2 - 3 weeks into term one (1), she identified a serious problem in these students. The students lack basic phoneme awareness in their elementary stages (EP, E1 & E2). This made it quite difficult to teach the Students in English.
"One can easily tell that these poor children weren't drilled their Phonics properly, having them struggling to sound letters and words properly", she pointed out!
"Again, it boils down to whoever elementary teacher was responsible for their early stages of learning." She stressed!
Being a qualified and experienced LEM Phonics teacher, she believes that proper introduction to LEM Phonics at the elementary schools will boost the quality of learning, especially in speaking, reading and understanding the English Language.

Mrs. Osese is reaching out to church Agencies, Local Level Government Agency and any private or business agencies to partner with her organization, to help train teachers in Elementary Schools and Grade 3, 4 & 5 teachers to equip them with the knowledge or skills to start LEM Phonics in their schools.
Light Education Ministry (LEM) Phonics not only is about phoneme awareness, but comes complete with Grammer skills and rules needed to teach reading or speaking of the English language, fluenty!
